About the event
Dr David Shilston is an expert in Geological Engineering and a former President of The Geological Society. After qualifying at Imperial College he has worked for Soil Mechanics (Mowlem) and Atkins for most of his career. This has given him a wide experience of the geology of both The UK and and many other countries. He also has a great interest in the Carbinifrous Coal deposits of The Midlands and the North East.
Having worked in Indonesia his talk tonight will focus on the volcanic activity around this area and the giant mud volcano at Lusi in eastern Java which erupted in 2006.
